All About Telescopes

Join us tonight @ 6:00 PM for our free virtual program “All About Telescopes” where we’ll cover everything you need to know about buying your first telescope, along with observing highlights for the week! Register by sending an email to Lexie Martinez at lbmartin@cityofwestminster.us.

With so many options out there, is there an affordable and quality way to take your stargazing interest to the next level with a telescope? The answer is yes! But, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot to consider when making an informed decision.

The first piece of equipment an aspiring astronomer should own is actually a good set of binoculars. They’re very affordable and offer by far the best return on investment. You can see galaxies, nebulae, open clusters, globular clusters, the moons of Jupiter, rings of Saturn, craters and mountain ranges on the Moon and much much more.

The next step is of course a telescope, but which kind? For that you’ll want to tune in tonight for our discussion! If you can’t make it we’ll cover it over the coming days with our daily updates.

Check back each weekday @ 5:00 pm for more observing guides and science news!
