Comet SWAN Makes an Appearance!

Comet SWAN is poised to put on a show in the pre-dawn hours and over the next week become visible just after sunset at our latitude.

As you might recall last week (see our post from May 13, 2020) we talked about the possibility of Comet SWAN (C/2020 F8) becoming visible from Arvada, and it’s finally reached that point.

We’ll turn it over to veteran observer Bob King in Sky & Telescope for charts and observation notes, be sure to keep checking out his page (linked in this article) for up to the minute news on this and other comets!

Comet SWAN Expected to Put on a Splendid Show - Sky & Telescope

When Comet ATLAS (C/2019 Y4) began to fragment and fade in April our hopes for a bright comet this spring appeared quashed. But just in the nick of time Comet SWAN (C/2020 F8) came to the rescue, shooting across the sky faster than a speeding bullet and wearing a magnificent green cape to boot!

Check back each weekday @ 5:00 pm for more observing guides and science news!
