Find Mars Tonight

As Mars reaches opposition next week, you’ll have no trouble finding it in the eastern sky after sunset. Mars is the brightest object in this region of the sky, its unmistakably reddish hue makes it a brilliant object to view even without the aid of binoculars or a telescope.

For best viewing, wait until it rises higher, views will improve substantially after 9:30 PM when it climbs above the turbulent air near the horizon and rises over the densest part of the Denver glow. Mars is currently in Pisces, though it outshines the constellation stars. The attached diagram will help locate it for the next several weeks.
