Spring is Here!
A lot is happening in the sky this week! For starters, the Vernal Equinox occurs tomorrow, marking the first official day of Spring. Around this date the night and day are almost exactly 12 hours each (the word ‘equinox’ comes from latin roots meaning roughly ‘equal night’). The Moon moves through Taurus tonight near Mars and the Pleiades, and a host of Messier objects are in the evening sky.

We’re at the beginning of our fundraising drive to raise $3,500 to purchase community use telescopes to host events when things reopen. If you can’t donate directly, you can still help us by spreading the word about the campaign by sharing on social media! Standley Lake Stargazing doesn’t receive advertising or sponsorships, we instead rely on word of mouth of the community we serve.
