Heart Nebula
Plan to join local astrophotographer Jim Miller for a program Wednesday @ 6 PM to discuss imaging the night sky! Link on the Events page.
You can see more of his work at www.MillerAstroPix.com.
Here’s Jim’s image of the Heart Nebula, with his description:
“The Heart Nebula is a mix of glowing interstellar gas and dark dust clouds that lies approximately 7,000 light years from earth. With a name derived from its Valentine's-Day-approved shape, it sprawls across almost 200 light years. The nebula's glow -- as well as the shape of the gas and dust clouds -- is powered by stellar winds and radiation from massive hot stars at its center. Its apparent size in the sky is huge, spanning about 2.5 degrees on the sky or about 5 times the diameter of the Full Moon.”
Check back each weekday @ 5:00 pm for more observing guides and science news!
