Venus, the Evening Star is at its brightest
Next to the Sun and Moon, Venus is the third brightest object in the sky, and tonight it’s at its brightest.
While it’s sometimes visible during the day, the easiest way to spot it is to go out at sunset and face due West and scan for the first object you see. Venus is the first object visible in the twilight and many observers find it successfully within minutes of the sunset. If you don’t see it immediately, don’t worry, after twilight it’s far and away the brightest object in the night sky, so bright in fact it’s often confused for aircraft.
Venus goes through phases just like our Moon, be sure to join us again when it’s safe to hold stargazing events to see the phases of Venus through a telescope!
